Die Mäntel, n.d.

The German play (a comedy in two acts) is an adaptation of the French play Les Manteaux by Eugène Scribe. The file contains handwritten materials related to rehearsal and performance, including a scenario; notes on set design; and 5 role books. All of the materials likely date from before 1850. The role books are for the following parts: Franziskus, Brigitte, Balthasar, Anna, and James. The role books for James, who is an Englishman, contains a few lines in English, and one of these lines in English also appears on the scenario; the materials are otherwise entirely in German. (The collection's holdings of theater newspapers and playbills do not include any reference to this play.)
